Boris Gorin, M. Sc., Ph.D. Director, Research & Development
Dr. Boris Gorin, native from Ukraine, obtained his M. Sc. Magna Cum Laude in Chemistry, followed by a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry in 1984, from Moscow State University. Boris furthered his studies in Canada, performing a postdoctoral in 1994 under Dr. Greg Thatcher of Queens University, Kingston, Ontario.
Boris has over 20 years experience in synthetic organic chemistry and process development for the pharmaceutical industry. Boris started his industrial experience at the Institute for Physiologically Active Compounds, with the Russian Academy of Sciences, where he led drug design and discovery teams. This was followed by his appointment as Senior Research Chemist with Raylo Chemicals, Edmonton in 1996 where he worked until assuming his current position of Research & Development Manager with Alphora Research in 2004.
During his career, Boris has developed new synthetic processes for over one hundred new drug candidates, including various classes of natural products, heterocycles and phosphoroorganic compounds. Of these, several APIs were successfully launched to the pharmaceutical market. Boris is the author of 13 patents and over 20 scientific publications.
